Conversion of store into 1-bedroom apartment Lisbon
This architectural project in Lisbon, signed by Tiago Correia’s studio, focuses on the strategic conversion of a former high street store into a contemporary 65 m² one-bedroom apartment. Located in the prestigious Campo de Ourique neighborhood, the property is an example of how urban regeneration can transform obsolete commercial spaces into functional luxury homes that are integrated into the city’s fabric.
The Challenge of Conversion: From Commercial Space to Housing
Transforming a store into a home requires a rigorous technical approach to privacy, lighting and insulation. In Campo de Ourique, the challenge was to create a haven of tranquillity on the first floor. Through intelligent interior architecture solutions, we were able to maximize the entry of natural light without exposing the intimacy of the residents to street life.
Project Highlights and Materials
The choice of materials reflects a minimalist and timeless aesthetic, characteristics present in Tiago Correia’s portfolio:
- Open Space concept: fluid integration between living room, dining area and kitchen.
- Noble materials: Pine wood flooring and natural stone countertops that guarantee durability and thermal comfort.
- Space optimization: Custom-made carpentry solutions that take advantage of the thickness of window openings for storage and bookshelves.
- Lighting Design: Focus on indirect light and circular design lamps that reinforce the modernity of the space.
