Cascais House
The project consists of the complete refurbishment of a traditional house in Cascais. While keeping the exterior lines characteristic of the local architecture intact, the decision was made to modernize the interior, adapting it to a contemporary lifestyle.
The interior of the house has been completely remodeled, giving way to a clean, functional and luminous architectural language. The social area is located on the first floor, where you’ll find the living, dining, kitchen and laundry areas, organized in large, interconnected spaces and illuminated by natural light from skylights, promoting a fluid and comfortable experience.
The private area is on the lower floor, ensuring greater privacy and tranquillity. This floor houses the bedrooms and relaxation areas, with a subtle connection to the outside through patios and openings that ensure natural light and ventilation.
The intervention emphasizes the simplicity of natural materials such as wood and stone, creating a welcoming, serene and sophisticated environment. The presence of natural light was maximized through the introduction of skylights and large glazed openings, contributing to the environmental quality of the space.
This project thus seeks to balance the memory of the original house with the demands of contemporary living, in a dialog between tradition and modernity.
